Platelet Rich Plasma

This is the practice of using your pet’s own plasma (a component of whole blood) to inject into joint and soft tissue targets to encourage faster, more effective healing. Platelets contain growth factors and stimulate white blood cells to translocate to the site of injection. They initiate a cascade of reactions that may increase new cell formation, stimulate blood flow, and regulate the inflammatory process.

It is a great option for post-operative pets, poor surgical candidates, those hoping to avoid surgery, and those with severe soft tissue injuries.

The procedure requires local (and sometimes general) sedation, and most pets benefit from multiple injections. PRP is contraindicated in pets with systemic infections.

*Because each pet responds differently to treatment, we will determine suitability at your first consultation.
